F.A.Q.

Have any Questions?

What is the difference between Interior Design and Decorating?

Interior Designers may decorate, but Decorators do not design. Interior design is understanding people’s behavior to create functional spaces within a building, while interior decorating is the furnishing or adorning of a space with decorative elements to achieve a certain aesthetic. Here at Design & Order, we do both Interior Design and Decorating.

Is working with an Interior Designer affordable?

Well, that depends on what you consider to be affordable. Our virtual consultation is just $150 for one hour. Working with an Interior Designer can actually save you money in the long run, not to mention time and aggravation. When you hire Design & Order, you’re not only hiring creative talent, you are also hiring years of knowledge and expertise. We can help prevent costly design and purchasing mistakes while advising you on where to splurge and where to save so that you can get the most bang for your buck and the style you desire.

When should we call an Interior Designer?

If you are thinking of remodeling your space you should call us as soon as possible. An interior designer can bring knowledge & experience to the decisions made regarding electrical, plumbing, fabrics and furniture. In most cases, a designer can actually help avoid unnecessary expenditure by making sure that needs are met and no errors are made along the way. We can help you save time and money with our knowledge and also help the project come together better with the appropriate finishes such as paint color, flooring, cabinetry, etc.

Do you work with subcontractors or do I need to find my own?

Yes, we have many different types of subcontractors that we work with on a regular basis and can highly recommend. If you are looking for reupholstering, custom window treatments, flooring installation, wallpaper installation, custom built-ins we have the right person for you. We are happy to work with your builder, general contractor or any other contractor you would like to work with as well.

What type of organizing services do you offer?

We focus on organizing spaces to make them not only more functional but more beautiful as well. If you are looking for decluttering or hoarding help that is not an area of focus for us. You can find a specialist for those types of needs at www.napo.net.

Where do you get your furniture?

We purchase products from a variety of sources.  We also use local stores, Trade showrooms, and retail locations, along with online retailers. If our clients have sources that they prefer to work with we are more than happy to use them. We also work with custom upholstery and drapery workrooms.

Do I have to make purchases through you?

No. You are welcome to make any purchases on your own. Most clients do purchase through us, because of the discount we pass along and purchasing through us also ensures a cohesive look throughout your space.

Do we need to use your contractor or architect?

No. We will work with your builder, or tradespeople. We are more than happy to refer you to those who can help as well. You will not pay us for construction related labor, that is between you and your contractor.

What spaces do you stage?

We stage for rental spaces only. All furniture and home furnishing items will be purchased vs. rented.

How much can I expect to pay for Organizing services?

Fees will vary widely depending on the project parameters. We offer packages or charge by the hour. Our hourly rates start at $75. It’s best to establish a budget that is comfortable for you and keep this in mind when planning for your project. Additional costs for needed materials and supplies should be considered as well.
